![]() In summary, if you want an RPG that’s simple to pick up and can be played in quick bursts if needed then this is purrrfect. The controls are simple yet the game is complex because you can do side quests and customize your character which is so much. At £10 to purchase digitally I also think it’s priced pretty nicely, it’s definitely far better value than Aliens: Colonial Marines. Overall I’m a big fan of this game, I love that it’s streamlined to make it as accessible as possible and has a sense of humour about itself. The developers know that what play into the tropes of the genre and the game is all the more charming for it. The dialogue is fun, at one point the character that tags along with you refers to the bad guy as essentially the biggest cliche ever after discussing his nefarious scheme. The game also doesn’t take itself seriously, there’s a buttload of cat puns worked in (which I love far more than I should). It aims to provide a streamlined and concise open world experience. The side quest system is clever too as it essentially pauses the main quest until you complete or abandon it, it’s great for quick blasts or extended sessions.Ĭat Quest is a game heavily inspired by the Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy and Skyrim. I like that the inventory system gives you a number of items and you improve them by collecting duplicates, it’s clever and saves on hoarding which I’m always guilty of in an RPG. What also helps is that the combat in Cat Quest only uses two buttons, one to attack and one to dodge, it works incredibly well. Combat in Cat Quest takes place entirely in real time, allowing you to get close to enemies with a slash of your blade, dodge roll to avoid a counter-attack. That being said after sticking with it I think the simple approach is actually what makes the game and I’ve gotten pretty addicted to it due to it being so accessible. When I first played it I was initially a little disappointed, visually it’s functional but hardly stunning and the controls are also incredibly simple, I wasn’t impressed by any stretch of the imagination. Cats and RPGs are both things I like quite a lot. The fact that the main hook of the game is that it is centred around cats was not lost on me and was a fairly big reason it intrigued me. Note: This game is included in Cat Quest + Cat Quest II: Pawsome Pack, along with the original Cat Quest. Upon reading up about it I learned that it was actually an open world RPG, it suddenly became far more appealing. Honestly, if you have a spouse or significant other, or even a. However, after giving it a whirl I have to say that its a great time. The game almost looks like a flash game in the way that its animated. I was initially reluctant to give this game a go as I thought it was going to be another roguelike game, which is a genre I can’t personally get on with. I am just about to beat this game with my wife and honestly I judged it very hard at first glance. If you give it a chance, Cat Quest is actually a well-designed experience.
